The Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) will be hosting an Adult Education event called Open House in Quay Street. This event will take place on August 21 in what was the old VEC Secondary School, now home to MSLETB – Sligo for the past five years.

This event is about letting people living and working in County Sligo know what adult education opportunities are available to them such as parttime day, evening courses, night classes including a vast diversity of course. Our classes are open to people living in other parts of the Northwest also, so all people are welcome.

They will also be giving people the opportunity to find out more about traditional and new Apprenticeships and Traineeships that have become available and how to go about signing up to these.

They have information on hobby courses, getting to grips with online such as emailing and using apps, to finding out how to access further education.

There will also be information for newly graduated Leaving Certificate Students on how to access PLC courses, if they need help boosting their points for third level entry or find about other accessible paths into employment.

Saoirse Kennedy, adult guidance information officer, will be there to arrange follow up or one to one guidance sessions for people who feel that they want to know more or get started applying for courses in Sligo.
