RECENT DEATH

The death took place on July 11 of Florence Madden, Galway City. She was mother of Kevin Madden, Lisaballel­y, Gurteen – sincere sympathy is extended to Kevin, Orla and family also to his sister Caroline, brother, Liam and their families on their bereavemen­t. May she rest in peace.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is also extended to Ruth O’Dowd – Hayden Mahanagh, husband and family on the death on July 10 of Ruth’s sister Amanda O’Dowd, Boyle, and also to all her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

RECENT WEDDING

Congratula­tions and best wishes to Conor Durkin, Kilfree, Gurteen, and Aishling Rushe, Boyle, who were married on Thursday, July 5, in Portugal.

GURTEEN TIDY TOWNS COLLECTION

Gurteen Tidy Towns wish to thank everyone who contribute­d to their church gate collection in Gurteen and Cloonloo recently – a total of €965 was collected. If anyone wishes to make a donation they can leave it into Gurteen PO Support is greatly appreciate­d.

BINGO

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €3,000 on 48 calls – lotto raffle €1,000 – and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.

SUMMER SEISIUN

The summer Seisiun show will be Wednesday night, July 25, at 8, 30 p.m. – a stage show of Irish music, song and dance. It will feature Ceoltoiri Coleman – with Junior Davey as Fear an Tí.

JUNIOR SESSION

Then on Saturday nights for July and August there is a Junior Session also at 8.30 p.m. organised by Fiona Doherty well known fiddle player and all young musicians are very welcome to come along and join in in a relaxed informal setting. CEILI NIGHT

There will be a ceili in Teach Murray, Gurteen, on next Thursday night, July 26, with dancing from 9.30 p.m. to 12.30 with the Long Note Ceili Band – this is the first visit of this band to Gurteen. Further informatio­n from 087 2644963. 071 9146512 for details and registrati­on form.

HALL HIRE.

Our centre is available for room and hall hire at very competitiv­e rates, and we offer excellent facilities for sports, meetings, parties and social events, including our sports hall, changing rooms with showers etc. Our hall is very popular for sports events, and also for children’s parties as it can accommodat­e a bouncy castle.
