SLIGO SUMMER FESTIVAL

The Sligo Summer Festival takes place over four nights from August 9 th until August 12 th. Taking place in Stephen Street Car Park, the event kicks off on August 9 th with Kieran Quinn and guests playing music from the 80s.

Friday welcomes example and dj wire, while Mundy and Paddy Casey headline the Saturday night. Mike Denver and friends will headline Sunday’s event.

There will be a family fun day on the Saturday in Stephen Street Car Park from 2-4pm.

On Thursday the 26 th of July, the Hawk’s Well Theatre’s Trad@lunch series continues with a lunchtime performanc­e by Sligo siblings Elsa, Jos and Ted Kelly.

Trad@lunch is the Hawk’s Well Theatre’s new summer series of traditiona­l music sessions taking place in the theatre foyer at lunchtime between 1.10 and 1.50pm. Traditiona­l music from Sligo and beyond is celebrated in this special series of free lunchtime concerts. No booking is required. Those interested are asked to just come along to the theatre foyer and enjoy forty minutes of musical escapism. Feel free to bring your own lunch!

Wayne Whelan and Zac Global Promotions are excited to announce their nationwide tour of Oh What A Night: A Celebratio­n of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons; Having just enjoyed a sold-out 9-night run at the Tivoli Theatre, the production is ready to take on the road and pay a visit to 25 theatres across the country.

Featuring the timeless classics such as ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘Walk Like A Man’, ‘Sherry’, and ‘Oh What A Night’ featuring all these wonderful hits from the West End Jersey Boys, this group has taken Ireland and the UK by storm with tours around the country, getting audiences off their feet and singing along to the well-loved tunes of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. SLIGO YOUTH THEATRE

Sligo Youth Theatre are performing a new play this week at their own theatre space in Quay Street Sligo.

The young actors will bring you on a journey back through the mists of time, as they present the iconic and mystical Irish legend, The Children of Lir.

This is a visually enchanting show which brings a deep, poetical and lyrical treatment to this well loved tale.

‘Lir’s Children’ has themes of love, jealousy, hatred and migration which lends itself to this beautifull­y to this original and unique perspectiv­e of the story of the lost children of the Tuatha de Danann.

ENNISCRONE BLACK PIG FESTIVAL

The Enniscrone Black Pig Festival takes place this weekend from July 26-30. The highlights include: Mike Denver takes to the stage at the Diamond Coast Hotel on Thursday, Friday’s schedule includes piggy races, live music, beach yoga and more, ceilis, seaside spree and bouncy bonanza are among the highlights of Saturday at the event, the family funtastic day is on Sunday followed by the party at the pier with Michael English in concert and on Monday the 5k and 10k run closes the festival.
