Irish Rail urges customers to book train tickets in advance for the Papal visit

IRISH Rail is urging people hoping to travel to see the Pope at the end of August to book their seats now. Demand for train seats is expected to be unpreceden­ted, with gardai and National Transport Authority advising people to use public transport for their journeys to Dublin or Knock.

Irish Rail spokesman Barry Kenny says nobody will be allowed get on a train on Sunday, August 26 th unless they have a ticket or a reservatio­n, something that will also apply to the Sligo/Dublin line. The NTA has put in place a robust transport plan to cater for everyone attending the event from across the island. Those with a ticket to see the pope will travel free on all public transport.
