Head on collision with car at Castleloye
A man has been convicted of careless driving after he was involved in a head-on collision with another car at Castleloye, Tubbercurry last October.
Joerg Lieverz (50) of Cashel, Tubbercurry, was originally charged with dangerous driving at 8.05am on the N17 at Castleloye on 22nd October 2017.
He pleaded guilty to the charge before Judge Kevin Kilrane at Tubbercurry District Court last Wednesday 25 th July.
Inspector Paraic Burke said the defendant drove his car on the wrong side of the road and hit an oncoming car. There were no serious injuries.
Lieverz was breathalysed which gave a reading of 33mgs/100mls. The judge reduced the charge to careless driving and fined him ¤300.
