Pri­mary care cen­tre gets the green light

SLIGO County Coun­cil has granted plan­ning per­mis­sion for the build­ing of a new pri­mary care cen­tre in Drum­cliffe.

The news has been wel­comed by the HSE. A spokes­woman said: “Drum­cliffe is part of the North Sligo Pri­mary Care Team which cov­ers the ar­eas from North of Sligo Town to North of Clif­foney ap­prox­i­mately 30km and has a pop­u­la­tion of 8,500 ap­prox­i­mately.

“This will be a sin­gle storey Pri­mary Care Cen­tre with as­so­ci­ated site works and car park­ing which will re­place the ex­ist­ing GP premises in Drum­cliffe when con­structed. The to­tal gross floor area of the build­ing is 595 sq. m.

“When com­pleted the fol­low­ing ser­vices will be op­er­a­tional from the build­ing, Gen­eral Prac­ti­tioner, Pub­lic Health Nurs­ing and multi-dis­ci­plinary book­able rooms which will be used by vis­it­ing Clin­i­cians for ex­am­ple Dietitian Ser­vice, Speech & Lan­guage Ther­apy, So­cial Work, Psy­chol­ogy, Phys­io­ther­apy and Oc­cu­pa­tional Ther­apy.”
