Championship fever has arrived with first round this weekend
THERE is a busy season of GAA action to look forward to throughout the county with the Belfry Senior Championships and the Kennedys Intermediate Championships getting underway this weekend.
Defending champions Tourlestrane will be aiming for their third title in a row and with Eamonn O’Hara and Gerry McGowan’s men recently winning the Division 1 trophy, their Championship campaign will be boosted.
Tourlestrane are taking on last year’s Intermediate champions St John’s in Curry on Saturday evening.
Last year’s Senior finalists Eastern Harps are facing Tubbercurry in Group 1 when they meet in Bunninadden.
St Molaise Gaels will be taking on Coolera/Strandhill in Scarden in Group 2 on Saturday.
Another exciting match to look forward to is this year’s Division 1 finalists Coolaney/Mullinabreena taking on St Mary’s on Sunday in Kilcoyne Park on Sunday.
The Kennedys Intermediate Championship is also providing some entertaining games with the meeting of St Michael’s and St Farnan’s in Kent Park on Saturday while on Sunday, Cloonacool Community Park is the venue for Curry and Geevagh.
Abbott cup winners Ballymote will face Shamrock Gaels in Bun- ninadden while Tourlestrane will play host to the meeting of west Sligo neighbours Castleconnor and Enniscrone/Kilglass.
