CONGRATULATIONS to the Geevagh U-12 boys who won the U-12 B cup final when they defeated Enniscrone in Scarden on Thursday evening last. In front of a large crowd, the boys started slowly but dominated the third and fourth quarter to record a famous victory. Coaches Emmet Noone and Gerry Brehony had all their charges in fine form in a game which featured eye catching performances from Captain Dara Mostyn and resolute defender Shane O’ Reilly. Well done to all concerned. CONGRATULATIONS must also go to Jade Gabbidon who made her Croke Park debut when she participated in the Mini 7’s exhibition game at half time during last Saturdays thrilling Galway v Clare senior hurling semi-final. Let’s hope the promising Geevagh girl returns in her county colours to savour this unique atmosphere in the years ahead. OUR senior hurling team made it three wins from three senior hurling championship games with a comprehensive 2-20 to 0-2 defeat of a depleted Tubbercurry team in Kent Park last Friday evening. WE also were quite understrength with players working or on holiday, however the team performed well throughout with good performances from senior championship debutants Tom Gavin, Alan Kelly and Tom Armstrong. The two O’Kelly-lynch brothers, Tony and Gerard, dominated the scoring, with a number of U-21 players, Conor McGovern, Roan Conneely and Donal Fidgeon and Cathal Jordan also contributing to the scoreboard.

OUR minor (U-18) hurling team had a great start to their Sligo MHC campaign last Thursday evening when they edged out Tourlestrane in a high goal scoring contest in Kent park, finishing on a scoreline of 5-13 to 7-3 to our lads. Next up is a trip to Oxfield against Benbulben Gaels this Thursday evening at 7pm.
OUR U-14 hurlers also got their championship up and running last Friday night. They performed well but lost out to a strong Western Gaels team 6-7 to 4-7 in this Round 1 tie of the Sligo GAA U-14 HC, despite a promising comeback in the second half. Better luck in the next round away to Castleconnor on 10th August. ROBERT O’Kelly-Lynch was the standout player scoring 3-6 from play and frees. Dara Mostyn nabbed the other goal and Rory Kinane worked solidly in midfield. Cathal Shovelin, Oilean Mulligan, Stefan Roche and Harry Cawley also impressed in a good team performance.

BOTH our U12 and U11 teams suffered defeat in their Shield semi finals last week going down to Drumcliff -Rosses Point and Ballymote-Bunninadden respectively. Thanks to the players and theIreland managers for their time and commitment during the year.
ST. MOLAISE GAELS
OUR Development squad defeated Coolaney/Mullinabreena 1-13 to 1-10 at Scarden on Sunday afternoon in the final of the Division IV League. Congratulation to the squad and management team on an excellent league campaign which saw only one defeat. Having won the Junior B Championship last season the Group were determined to achieve league success this campaign and will after Sunday’s success compete in Division III next season. A 54th minute goal from Darren Oates proved the crucial score in the final and with Jamie McLoughlin, John Gilsenanan and Martin Feeney contributing excellent points Gaels were able to withstand late pressure from Coolaney/Mullinabreena and secure the title. The squad will now focus their efforts on the A championship. DISAPPOINTMENT for our U12 Boys beaten 22 score to 17 by Eastern Harps in Scarden on Thursday evening last in the Division I final. Gaels trailed by 13 scores to 3 after the first quarter with the Gurteen side kicking some fantastic scores. However Gaels upped their performance significantly from there to the end of the game but the gap proved too much and despite fantastic effort they came up short. Congratulations to Harps on their win. Well done to the Gaels squad and mangement team who have worked so hard this year and produced many excellent displays. Our Division III side were beaten by Coolera/Strandhill in their semi final on Tuesday evening by 25 scores to 15. Again this Group have worked very hard all season and thanks to team and their coaches for their efforts, THE underage Championship season is well underway and our minor Boys picked up their second win with a 2-12 to 0-07 victory at home to Curry on Sarturday evening. on Monday 23rd July our U16 Boys had an excellent 3-21 to 1-06 win away to Gee4vagh/ st Michaels.
ON Saturday last our U9 Boys won the Liam Browne Tournament hosted by Four Masters in Donegal defeating St Mary’s Sligo in a thrilling final with Gaels emerging winners by 6 scores to 5 after extra time.
FIXTURES this week see our U12 Hurlers away to Coolera/Strandhill on Tuesday evening at 7.00pm while on Friday night our U14 Boys open their B Championship campaign with ana way fixture against Ballymote/Bunninadden at 7.00pm. Wednesday evening sees our U10 Boys in Blitz action in Scarden.
ON Saturday evening next our senior men play Coolera/Strandhill in Scarden at 7.30pm in the Championship. Hopefully we will have good support for the team.
