MICHAEL CAWLEY BLITZ

Mayo club Knockmore retained the Michael Cawley Memorial Cup by winning the main competitio­n at the Michael Cawley Memorial Blitz, a 7-a-side ladies’ football competitio­n held in St Brendan’s GAA Park, Castleconn­or.

Knockmore defeated Tourlestra­ne in the days main final with Eoghan Rua’s second team overcoming St Michael’s to win the Anne Davitt Cup. St Nathy’s won the Sligo LGFA 7s Cup with victory over Eastern Harps.

Six clubs competed with each team playing six games. Player of the Tournament was Colie Casey from Eoghan Rua. The tournament was a fundraiser foe Croi, a west of Ireland Charity based in Galway that aims to fight heart disease and stroke.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

North West Hospice is holding a church gate collection at Masses in Easkey and Dromore West on August 4/5. Thank you for your continued support.

MOTOR CYCLE RUN

A motor cycle run to Cork and back in aid of the Jonathon Higgins Go Fund Me will be held on Saturday, August 11. The motor cycles will leave Easkey at 8 a.m. and arrive back at the Castle Inn at 6 p.m. approximat­ely where there will be a barbecue, live bands and a raffle. DONATIONS THANKS

Margaret, Gerry and Mark Kelly, Carnrush, Rathlee wish to thank everyone who helped raise and donated money for Hugh’s House and the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin. A cheque for €5,000 was presented to Hugh’s House and 1,700 to the National Maternity Hospital.

SOCCER SUMMER CAMP

The annual Kilglass/Enniscrone FAI Soccer Summer Camp will start on Monday, August 13. Cost is €65 per child with family discounts. SKREEN PARISH LUNCH

The annual Skreen Parish lunch will take place on Sunday, August 5, in the Skreen-Dromard Community Centre with the usual sittings at 12.30 p.m., 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.

BELTRA SHOW

The 107th Beltra Show will take place on Saturday, September 1, in Beltra Hall in grounds with the usual classes and events. The annual show raffle will be held in Rafters Pub on the show night.

HERITAGE TRAIL

West Sligo Heritage Trail is a two-hour or full day bus trip of Sligo/Mayo and takes place on Saturdays, in July and August leaving from Easkey Community Centre. Booking is essential at 09649020 or email easkeyhous­e@yahoo.com.

ARTS/CRAFTS EXHIBITION

An exhibition of arts and crafts will be held in Easkey Community Centre for July and August. Centre is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Weekends by appointmen­t only at 096 49020 or 087 6186866.

The annual cemetery Mass will be held in Roslea on Sunday, August 5, at 7 p.m.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on July 20. Numbers drawn were 9, 28, 32 and 34. €25 winners: Patricia Kenny, Aidan Mullen, Jerry Boland, Paddy Maloney and Marie Battle. Promoter’s prize: Tony Jones.

Congratula­tions to Mary Tuffy of Lacken Enniscrone who celebrated her 101st Birthday on Wednesday July 18th. Mary is now resident in Ard Na Greine nursing home Enniscrone. A special mass was celebrated by Fr.Kevin Loftus in Ard Na Greine to mark the occasion.

It has been some time since people were asked for subscripti­on to fund the Text Alerts, which are sent out by An Gardai. At present there are 422 numbers in the network receiving texts. Funds have now depleted and so everyone is been asked to once again put €5 into an envelope with name and mobile number written on it. ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS GAA

There was major disappoint­ment for the Enniscrone-Kilglass/ Easkey minor team last Thursday evening when they were beaten by St Molaise Gaels at Quigabar in the first round of the championsh­ip by a point, 3-7 to 3-8. Leading by five points in the closing stages, the concession of two very poor goals late on resulted in the loss. Despite this disappoint­ment, the lads will hope for improvemen­t away to Ballymote/ Bunninadde­n next Thursday at 7pm

The Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey U-16s got their championsh­ip campaign off to a winning start with a 7-17 to 2-7 defeat of Eastern Harps. They play Tourlestra­ne on Monday evening (July 23rd) at 7pm in Tourlestra­ne.

Our U-14s secured silverware on Friday evening last when they claimed the Division Two shield title with a 3-10 to 1-7 win over Coolaney/Mullinabre­ena at Scarden. 3-7 to 0-2 ahead at half-time, the lads did well in the second half against the wind to end as deserving winners. Well done to everyone involved on this success. The squad from Friday was: Finn Conway; Eoin Tuffy, Lorcan Gregory; Darragh Mulrooney, Matthew Foley, Ryan O’Donnell; Brian Duffy, Jordan Stevens; Tommy Quinn, Lee Devaney, Oisin Arthur; Oisin Finnerty, Pearse Sheridan. Our U-12s have an important game at home on Tuesday when they play Curry in the Division Two semi-final at 7pm. Good luck to everyone involved.

BLOTTO DRAW

There was no winner of the €3,400 Jackpot when the Draw took place in, Gilroys Bar, on Sunday last. Numbers drawn were 1, 4 & 35.

€25 winners were: Liam Tuffy, Thomas Kennedy, and Mike Renouf ,Jen& Bren. The next draw will take place in the Pilot Bar on Sunday 29nd July. Jackpot is €3,600.

STORYBOOK TRAIL

Enniscrone Library invites all of the family to read pages of a picture book that are displayed along the hollow at Enniscrone beach. It starts beside the lifeguard tower. Different books will be displayed here regularly throughout the summer.
