Human Rights award for nun

A nun originally from Sligo is set to receive an international award for her human rights work.

Sr Bridget Tighe will be presented with the inaugural Romero Award for her work with vulnerable people throughout the Middle East at a presentation in Ballinasloe on Saturday August 18th.

Sr Bridget is the General Director of Caritas Jerusalem and has worked in Gaza for the past four years.

She will also speak at a Trócaire seminar at the World Meeting of Families pastoral congress in the RDS later this month.
