The run and walk are open to people of all abilities. The course is essentially an 8 mile loop around the picturesque Knocknarea Mountain starting and finishing in Strandhill. There will be two water stations on the course as well as mile markers to allow contestants to keep track of their progress. The race and walk promise to be a fun event but the route includes challenges for both the novice and experienced runner as the course includes some tough climbs one of these being the Glen Road.
The run has proved to be an ideal warm up for the Warriors Run for many runners over the last few years and covers a significant portion of the Warriors Road route.
There are prizes for all categories and refreshments with be served in the Strand Celtic Clubhouse afterwards. As in all previous years the Knocknarea 8 Mile Loop is a gender equal event. There is a special prize if either of our male or female winners can set a new course record. Current male course record is 41 minutes and 01 Second (Jake O’Regan), and current female course record is 54 minutes and 49 Seconds (Audrey Colreavy).
