TIDY TOWNS

Carraroe is looking so well thanks to the volunteers. Anyone willing to become a weekly litter picker please contact any committee member and we will supply picker, gloves, and clear plastic bags.

SENIORS ALARM SCHEME

We now have 30 new people with this alarm installed and Cadra would urge all eligible residents to avail of the scheme as it a great comfort and support to people. Anyone over 65 is eligible. Anyone that already has the alarm is advised to were the pendent at all times including in bed. FOOTPATH

Work is expected to commence soon on the footpath to the Community Field with the setting back of part of stone wall and laying of footpath. This work is as result of the town and Villages Grant approved earlier this year. This is the beginning of our objective of having a footpath completed initially to the football fields and eventually to the Holywell and Lough Gill.

DANCING

Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo. Dance class commences at 8.30 p.m. with live band following. Learn to jive, waltz, Quick Step and more. Beginners and Improvers welcome. Tomorrow night Olivia Douglas will provide the live music. ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

The St John’s GAA summer academy for children born 2004 to 20012 takes place seventh eighth August 9 in Stenson Park Cuillbeg. Time 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. each day. Cost €20 or €35 for two children. Registrati­on at 9.30 a.m. on tomorrow in Clubhouse Cuilbeg. Coaches fully qualified and Garda vetted. New members welcomed and encouraged to take part.

Carmel Gunning will provide her summer school in Sligo from August 9 to August 11 with music and singing classes daily. Summer School entertainm­ent will take place in Riverside Hotel Sligo. CD LAUNCH

Cadra is appealing to people not to dump cigarette end from cars on to our roads. This activity leaves a piece of white filter paper on our roads causing unpleasant litter. Remember ‘Be Green Keep Carraroe Clean’ is our campaign slogan. Your assistance and cooperatio­n will be appreciate­d.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

We have permission­s in place to proceed with the finalisati­on of the developmen­t of this area. We are seeking sponsorshi­p or donations to assist us complete the area in front of Community Centre. We have costed the project and have contractor in ready to commence. As a registered charity the donations can be claimed against tax commitment – contact 087 2222835.
