SHOW SUCCESS

A very hearty thank you to all the local visitors, volunteers and sponsors who together made the 2018 Sligo County Agricultur­al Show a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces celebratin­g rural living in Riverstown’s community park, as well as the fabulous array of farm animals, home grown vegetables, home baking and craft. Well done everyone.

HOSPICE DONATION

A Fundraiser is underway in Ballintogh­er, Ballygawle­y, Castlebald­win and Riverstown areas to raise funds for the North West Hospice. Envelopes are being delivered to each household, enclosure is at your discretion and is entirely optional. Envelopes collected by Wednesday, August 15 and amount raised revealed on Saturday, August 18. Any support would be greatly appreciate­d for this worthy cause.

CANCER COLLECTION

Thank you is extended to the local community for the kind and generous contributi­ons to the Church Gate Collection­s held recently in Riverstown and Sooey Churches. A total of €564.32 was raised for Irish Cancer.

BICENTENAR­Y

Taunagh Select Vestry, Riverstown, Sligo are hosting the following events to celebrate the Bicentenar­y of Taunagh Parish Church 1818 2018.

On Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18 from 10am, there will be Festival of Flowers in Taunagh Church, and a memorabili­a exhibition in the Cooper Memorial Hall. There will be an official Celebratio­n Launch in the Cooper Memorial Hall on Friday, August 17 at 8pm by Cllr Martin Baker, Cathaoirle­ach of Sligo County Council.

Celebratio­ns will continue on Saturday, August 18 with a James Kilbane concert in Taunagh Church at 8pm. Tickets to this event are on sale now for €15. To complete festivitie­s all are welcome to attend a Bicentenar­y Service of Thanksgivi­ng on Sunday, August 19 at 4pm in Taunagh Parish Church.
