Curry-Moylough
ANNUAL FAIR
O .
There was a wonderful turn out for the annual fair of Curry which was held last Saturday on the fairgreen, which dates back to the year of the French 1798.
Brisk trade was reported for goats, ponies, bonhams and fowl. Various stands displayed home baking crafts and local industries. South Sligo Cohmaltas under-12 traditional musicians entertained during the afternoon led by their tutor Michael Hurley. Irish dancers displayed their talents on stage before Pats roadshow had everyone dancing on the tar for the evening.
Luckily there was sufficient water in the Owengarve for the ducks to race to the excitement of punters who lined up on the river bank to cheer on the winners. The local GAA pitch was the venue for an under-12 football blitz in the morning with a team from Claremorris emerging as winners of the Michael Haran Memorial Cup, and Ballaghdereen team winners of the John Higgins Memorial Trophy.
Bouncing castles and other events provided activity for children and families. Sincere thanks and congratulations to the organising committee.
