Win for Coolera U12s

-

THE Coolera/Strandhill under12 girls got back to winning ways when they defeated St. Farnan’s/St. Pat’s in their final group match on Friday.

The girls got off to a slow start and by half time trailed by 6 to 10. However, they produced a much better second half and with scores from Orna Murphy, Ellen Walsh, Susannah Gilligan, Alana Wilson, Lauren Healy and Lulu Mooney they turned the four point deficit into a 19-15 win. As usual Sophie Quinn was solid in goals while there were outstanding performances from Lisa Kilfeather, Anna McDaniel and Suzannah Gilligan in defence. They were well supported by Aine Harte and Grace Bailey. Orna murphy and Eva White worked hard in midfield and caused plenty of problems for the visitors’ defence.

Alanna Wilson, Ellen Walsh and Orlaith Beirne were very influential up front. Lauren Dalton, Tilly Ellwood, Aoife Gallagher, Hannah Bohan and Megan Bohan came on at different stages during the game to give a much needed lift to the team. This was an enthralling encounter against a determined St. Farnans/St. Pats which needed a spirited come back from the Coolera-Strandhill girls. The Coolera/Strandhill girls have made it to the semi final stage, but may first of all face a play off to determine the semi final pairings.
