HERITAGE WEEK

Dromahair Heritage group in conjunctio­n with Luna restaurant have organised a French themed evening as part of National Heritage week. They will have a three course meal with French menu which will be followed by a talk on General Humbert, who passed through Dromahair in 1798. This will be followed on Saturday, August 25, from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Dromahair’s past; The Depot on the Back Line and around the village. Dromahair’s heritage owes much to the English and the German contributi­ons. This event, which includes walks, talks and an exhibition, explores the contributi­ons of the Lane Fox and Jeiter families.

A guided walk commencing 11.00 will highlight the impact and built heritage of the Lane Fox estate in the village. Illustrate­d talks on both the Lane Fox family and the Jeiter family will commence at 2 p.m. A second walk at 4.30 p.m. will highlight the achievemen­ts of the Jeiter family. A unique exhibition covering both contributi­ons to the village heritage will be on display. It is hoped that the event will stimulate the sharing of stories and memories among residents and general public. Admission Free.

SELF DEFENCE CLASS

Bernard Leddy will run self-defence course from September 18, 7 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. at the Depot, Dromahair. To register just turn up on the first night. The course is six weeks long and will run every Tuesday night and costs €55.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR GROUP

Dromahair Defibrilla­tor group will hold their annual fun run/walk on September 9 This is a very important fundraiser, we have to raise funds for the maintenanc­e of our four units. Your support is paramount to maintain each unit. Many thanks in advance.

Dromahair Library summer Stars Reading is continuing. Be in with a chance to win a Family Pass to Dublin Zoo by entering the summer Stars programme at Dromahair Library before August 15 It’s a free programme and open to all children. We are delighted to have obtained NEW BOOKS for inclusion in the summer Stars Programme and not forgetting the adults. Dromahair Afterschoo­l are now enrolling for September 2018. They provide afterschoo­l services from two 6 p.m. daily for junior infants to sixth class. If you are interested, please call 087 1686591 for enrolment forms.
