COMMUNITY GAMES
Last year Community Games celebrated its Golden Jubilee and to mark the occasion the National Finals returned to Dublin where they were first held. The National Sports Campus in Dublin was the venue used for the 2 weekends of Festivals of sports in 2017.
This coming weekend, and for the second time in 2018 the University of Limerick will play host to the Aldi Community Games National finals. With the superb facilities of the UL Sports Campus available for use by Community Games it promises to be a spectacular and exciting weekend of sport for individuals, teams and supporters.
Castleconnor has 3 competitors representing Sligo in individual events. Best of luck to Arwen O’Neill (Carrownurlar) who will participate in the Girls U-14 800m, Ailish Quinn (Ballymooneen) who will compete in the Girls U-14 Long Puck and Eli O’Neill (Carrownurlar) who will run in the boys U-16 100 m. Connolly Powelsboro and Emer McGuinness Killybegs, who were married in the Church of St Mary of the Visitation Killybegs last week end. Celebrant was Fr Colm O’Gallachor PP Bridesmaids were Claire McDowell, Rachel Coleman, Charlotte Whincup, Avril Gallagher. Groomsmen were Seán Tonra, Stephen Connolly, James Connolly, Barry McGuinness, flowergirl Charlotte Connolly, pageboy Darragh McGuinness. Best wishes to the happy couple who will reside in Kilkelly Co Mayo.
