Yates looking forward to meeting local entrepreneurs

-

BROADCASTER Ivan Yates has been announced as the Guest of Honour at the Sligo Business Awards next October.

“I’m greatly looking forward to it. Last year I spoke at the Kerry Business Awards,” Yates told this newspaper.

“It was superbly organised. The diverse number of awards categories gave me a great insight into family businesses and the spirit of entrepreneurship in the West of Ireland.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting businesses in the North West this October. It’s a special and wonderful occasion which I have no doubt will be superbly organised. It’s important to recognise the risk-taking, the courage of local enterprise,” he said.

The TV and radio broadcaster said the Sligo Business Awards recognised excellence at a time when the high street retail sector was being hit by globalisation.

“I think it creates a competitive brand image for a company to be judged by peers and others. I think it actually helps businesses to develop their own centre of excellence and quality customer care, which is so vital to survive in business today,” he said.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Sligo Business Awards with the closing date of Friday 7 th September.

New this year is ‘Best Female Led Business’, recognizing entrepreneurial women who have founded and are running their own company; women who are showing exceptional abilities in leading and mentoring other women; and who have led their businesses to achieve significant results in the past year. Businesses can either self nominate or nominate someone they think deserves the recognition.
