Sligo’s short travel time to work

A snapshot of Sligo from the last Census shows workers have one of the shortest commutes in the country at 22 minutes.

THE population is also only 36% of what it was in 1841.Other stats gleaned by the Western Development which they had put into the form of an infographic includes:

•60.2% of people in the county live in rural areas.

•AVERAGE time to travel to work in Sligo was 22.1 minutes, one of the lowest in Ireland •58% of Sligo people are in very good health •41% of adults have a third level qualification •The population of Co. Sligo is only 36% of what it was in 1841 •POPULATION growth since the last Census in 2011 was(0.2%) and the growth over the last ten years (7.6%)

•SLIGO has more females (50.6%) than males and 16% of people are over 65 and more than a fifth are under 15 (20.3%)

•THE percentage with access to broadband in Sligo (66%). Sligo has 12.5% of its workers in industry and 7.2% working in agriculture.
