Region ‘must be prioritised’

THE Government needs to engage with the IDA to see if a similar type of enterprise can be located here with a view to hiring the skilled workforce of Stiefel but they must also create the conditions to the IDA in the North West to compete with other regions for Foreign Direct Investment, Cllr Chris MacManus has said.

“Our region must be prioritised regarding capital investment especially with Brexit looming. Announcements that Sligo is a ‘Regional Growth Centre’ are of little use unless we see the upgrading of vital infrastructure such as the N4 & N17, a modern rail line and a rollout of high speed broadband,” he added.
