Encouraging win over Ballina for Sligo rugby development squad

THE Sligo development squad played their first challenge match against Ballina 2nd XV at the weekend, in advance of the start of the J1A League in September.

This was an opportunity for newly appointed Head Coach Ross O’Boyle and his coaching staff to see the many new players in action.

Sligo had great depth in their squad and this was apparent in the many substitutions made throughout the game.

This move allowed the former U18.5s their first taste of Junior rugby and they certainly made their presence felt on the pitch, getting stuck in from the start.

Sligo dominated in all areas of the game, and the final score reflected this.

The pack dominated at the breakdown and in the lineouts, while the back line worked the ball out wide, stringing together some lovely flowing rugby, much to the delight of the Sligo supporters.
