BOXING CLUB

Manorhamilton’s Seán McDermott Boxing Club would like to extend a thank you to everyone who supported the annual church gate collection in the North Leitrim and West Cavan area, as well as to all those who volunteered to collect.

The total amount raised this year was €1,240 and goes a long way towards meeting ongoing expenses such as national affiliation fees, insurance and rent. The club would also like to thank last year’s tournament sponsors. DM Auctions, Patrick Kerrigan, Joe McHugh, David Clancy, Greg Veterinary, Gilmartin Insurance, Dessie McDermott and Pat Slevin.

The club is going from strength to strength with members taking part in major tournaments nationally on a regular basis. European Silver medallist, Dearbhla Rooney has been in training all summer for the World Championships.

She will head for Bucharest at the end of August following a three-week intensive camp in Blanchardstown. A special Training Fund is currently being set up by Supporters and the club to help young athletes to attend national training camps and boxing tournaments.
