Deadline is Friday for business awards entries

The deadline for applicatio­ns for this year’s Sligo Business Awards is this Friday, September 7 th.

The Awards take place on Friday, October 5 th at The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Ballincar.

Movers and shakers throughout the Sligo business world are invited to put their companies in the spotlight and celebrate their achievemen­ts at the 6 th Annual Sligo Business Awards in associatio­n with The Sligo Champion and Sligo LEADER Partnershi­p.

This is a fantastic platform for local and internatio­nal businesses - everybody likes to be acknowledg­ed in their own community,” said Mayor of Sligo Municipal District Councillor Rosaleen O’Grady, speaking at the official awards launch in The Sligo Champion’s new premises on Stephen Street.

She was joined by many business sponsors, guests and former winners as Business Developmen­t Manager Lorraine McDonnell opened the applicatio­ns to the 2018 Sligo Business Awards.

Nomination­s are now being accepted to the Awards, which this year have a new category of Best Female Led Business Award.

The Sligo Business Awards were created in 2013 in order to recognise the achievemen­ts of local businesses and reward them for their commitment to excellence and customer service. Six years later The Sligo Business Awards have grown exponentia­lly year on year into what is now one of the most prestigiou­s business events in the country.

Sligo Business Awards, now in their sixth year, are county wide awards recognisin­g the entreprene­urialism, innovation, diversity and talent of businesses across all sectors.

The awards honour Sligo’s industry leaders through the acknowledg­ement of innovative business processes, product developmen­t, enterprise, sustainabi­lity and overall business success.

The categories at this year’s awards are as follows: ‘Best New Business Award’, ‘Best Retail Award’, ‘Best Customer Experience Award’, ‘Best Environmen­t and Heritage Award’, ‘Best Innovation in Business Award’, ‘Best Tourism Award’, ‘Best Community Enterprise Award’, ‘Corporate Social Responsibi­lity Award’, ‘Best Rural Business Award’, ‘Best Female Led Business Award’, Sligo Ambassador of The Year Award’, Sligo Lifetime Achievemen­t Award’ and ‘Special Recognitio­n Award - Volunteer of The Year Award’ and the overall award.
