King-pins Tourlestrane look to keep on dominating
The Tourlestrane management team of Eamonn O’Hara and Gerry McGowan know about little but success with their club side since they took over in 2016.
That year, they lead the south Sligo men to a seven point win over St Mary’s before successfully defending their cup twelve months later with victory over Eastern Harps in last year’s decider at Markievicz Park.
Favourites from the start to capture three-in-arow, the green and gold enjoyed a relatively simple journey through Group 3 with wins over Calry/St Joseph’s and St John’s.
Even without a handful of players from last year’s panel, Tourlestrane were tipped at the start and remain the favourites for this season’s Owen B Hunt Cup.
Manager O’Hara has paid tribute to the less experienced players who have slotted in to his plans so well.
“While missing a few regulars this year, we have brought a number of young players into the squad, each of whom have found their place on the team when needed”, he said.
O’Hara’s boys have already flexed their muscle this season with the capture of the senior league title, beating Coolaney/Mullinabreena.
“Each of those players have contributed to winning the senior league earlier this year. The team has trained diligently, and tirelessly in their preparations for both league and championship.”
O’Hara wants that winning feeling to continue and feels momentum is the key ahead of their crunch quarter-final tie with St Molaise Gaels.
“Hopefully we can take from that and the team remains on form and can proceed to the final stages of the Championship”, O’Hara concluded.
