RAMBLING HOUSE

Riverstown Comhaltas have decided to postpone their Rambling House which was due to be held on September 8 due to ongoing building works in the Morrison Teach Ceoil. The next Rambling House will take place on Saturday, October 13, at 9.30 p.m. Musicians, singers and Dancers welcome. Refreshmen­ts will be served. HOSPICE DONATIONS

It is with great pride that the hospice announced on last Saturday night that €12,587.40 was collected between the Envelopes and raffle on the night.

A sincere ‘Thank you’ to the people of Ballintogh­er, Ballygawle­y, Castlebald­win and Riverstown, who gave so generously to this worthy cause. Thanks to our helpers who delivered envelopes and those who allowed bucket collection, the raffle sponsors, John Ryan sound, Seán McDermott and all who helped and contribute­d to such a worthy cause.

A few more envelopes have been submitted, and if there are any more to be collected, please make it known to or deliver to Committee Members by next week.

IRISH DANCING

Irish dancing classes will resume in Riverstown Community Hall on Monday, September 3, at 5.30 p.m. New dancers always welcome.

OFFICIAL OPENING

The official opening of St Michael’s second pitch, Ballygawle­y will take place on September 9. The pitch is to be named in honour of the late PJ Linnane, who was a brilliant stalwart of the club. PJ was a former treasurer of the club and also a member of Markievicz Park committee. The facility is floodlit, has sideline shelters and a perimeter walking\running track. There will be a number of events between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. including barbecue, live entertainm­ent, GAA games and skills workshop, with the official opening at 3.30 p.m. All welcome to attend.

RECYCLING

Riverstown, Ballysumag­han and Kilmactran­ny Parish Churches are collecting the following items for recycling: clothing (all age groups), shoes (please keep in pairs), belts/hats, hand-bags, soft toys, duvet covers, sheets curtains, towels etc (no bric-àbrac, toys, quilts or books). Collection day is Saturday, September 22, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cooper Memorial Hall, Riverstown.
