MACDIARMADA’S HOUSE
Guided tours of Kiltyclogher’s 1916 Proclamation Signatory, Seán MacDiarmada’s home in Corranmore are currently available free of charge on Saturday af- ternoons from midday to 3 p.m., till Saturday, December 1, This beautiful cottage is a designated National Monument; owned and very well maintained in its original condition by the office of Public Works. The cottage is of considerable historic importance, not only as the single existing home place of any of the seven signatories of the 1916 proclamation but as a fine example of an Irish traditional cottage; offering an insight into what life was like over 100 years ago for the majority of rural Ireland residents.

JOHN JOE’S WIN
When all the tricks were counted at the recent North Leitrim Men’s Group progressive ‘25’ card drive in the Bee Park Community Centre, it was a happy John Joe Malaniff that was declared the winner of the event’s top prize.
Enda McLoughlin shared the progressive ‘25’ card drive’s second prize behind John Joe. The progressive ‘25’ card drive’s table prize winner on the night was John Connolly.
The progressive ‘ 25’s’ raffle winners were Micheál Rooney (first), Gerry Fee (second) and John Connolly (third). This Sunday night’s (September 9) North Leitrim Men’s Group card drive in the Bee Park Community Centre will get under way at 9 p.m.
The card drive’s jackpot prize will be an excellent one of €700 on nine games while there will be a number of other top class prizes on offer as well. Issuing their usual cordial invitation the North Leitrim Men’s Group say ‘everyone welcome, 9 p.m. in the Bee Park Community Centre every Sunday night.’
FREE BOXING TRIALS
The Seán McDermott Boxing Club resumes action on all fronts for the forthcoming season on Monday night, September 10, in the Boxing Hall upstairs in the Manorhamilton’s Bee Park Community Centre.
The club is offering beginners and juniors two weeks free trials on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6.30 p.m. to check out the sport. Training, coaching, fun and games for all boys and girls from ages five years to 12 years is provided.
The Seán McDermott Boxing Club novice and senior member train weekly and are coached to the highest standards on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6.30 p.m. and the charge is €5 per night.
VINTAGE CLUB MEETING
The next monthly meeting of the Northwest Vintage and Heritage Club takes place in Manorhamilton’s Bee Park Community Centre on this Thursday night, September 6, at 9 p.m.
