Enjoy an intimate performanc­e by The Whileaways in the stunning castle chapel and a late summer feast in the Grand Hall at Markree Castle tomorrow (Wednesday). Choose between two performanc­es at either 6 or 7pm.

On Saturday the 8th of September, Grammy-nominated, Nashville singer-songwriter, Gretchen Peters comes to the Hawk’s Well Theatre as part of her current tour of her new album, Dancing with the Beast. New York born Peters has written hits for Martina McBride, Etta James, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Anne Murray, Shania Twain, Neil Diamond and she has co-written songs with Bryan Adams.

Darktown launch their extraordin­ary third album ‘Wound’ at Liber Bookshop this Saturday, September 8th. There will be an in store performanc­e from the group and special guests will be with them. The launch takes place at 1pm.

Con Brio’s 2018/2019 series of concerts gets underway on September 7th and promises to be one of its best ever. Featured musicians include one of the world’s finest clarinetti­sts Julian Bliss, exceptiona­l Irish pianist and former winner of the Internatio­nal Tchaikovsk­y Competitio­n Barry Douglas and more. LATE SUMMER CELEBRATIO­N AT MARKREE

Comic Workbook is a weekly comics workshop organised by Pulled in collaborat­ion with Niall Breen at The Nest, today (Tuesday) from 7pm. These workshops are open to all skill and experience levels. On Wednesday the 5th of September, the Hawk’s Well Theatre are holding a special event at Markree Castle in aid of the theatre’s Renovation Fund. The Late Summer Celebratio­n takes place at the newly-renovated venue in the evening, when guests will be welcomed from 6pm. Attendees can enjoy a sparkling welcome in the lavish surroundin­gs of the castle to the strains of some beautiful classical music.
