Phoenix Players looking for actors for their Sound of Music production

TUBBERCURR­Y will be alive with the Sound of Music as the acclaimed Phoenix Players do their take on the iconic musical which shot to fame in the sixties.

This is the first musical the Players have done in a decade which makes it even more special.

Local director Tom Walsh is overseeing the production, which is due to run in St Brigid’s Hall for 7 nights at the end of March.

The Players are holding an open night on Thursday for people to join the cast.

Tom said: “We’re running an open night in St Brigid’s Hall to get people of all ages involved in the production.

“Karen McKim from Cloonacool is playing the main part of Maria.

“Andrew Flynn is our Musical Director and everyone is looking forward to staging the production.

“People of all ages can come along to the open night and there will be auditions for children at a later date.

“There are 24 speaking parts and another 20 or 30 extras.

“We have not done the Sound of Music before and the last time we did a musical was 10 years ago when we did My Fair Lady so it is well timed to do another one,” he added. The open night on Thursday begins at 8:30pm. All welcome.
