Man’s ‘chaotic addiction’ issues not addressed

-

THE probation service has been asked by a Judge to continue offering support to a 37 year old man whom a report says his ‘chaotic addiction issues remain unaddressed.”

Before Sligo District Court was Seamus Casey with an address at Maryville Hostel, Finisklin who faces charges of theft, trespass and handling stolen property.

Judge Kevin Kilrane read from a probation report prepared last July in which it stated that Casey appeared entrenched in drug and alcohol abuse and was involving himself in gang disputes.

A more recent report noted that his chaotic addiction issues remained unaddressed.

He had also lost his place at a homeless shelter.

Judge Kilrane said he was going to adjourn the case to allow the defendant to overcome his problems.

“Hopefully, the probation service can provide continuing support to him,” he said, adjourning the case to November 1st and remanding him on continuing bail.

Casey was placed under the supervision of the service.
