FORMER Sligo All-Star Eamonn O’Hara is no longer in the mix as the hunt for Cathal Corey’s successor continues, it has been revealed.

The Tourlestrane manager had to withdraw his name as a potential successor for the Sligo senior job due to a recent change in his job role.

Sligo GAA County Board issued a statement and said that a number of candidates have been approached for the manager’s position.

Their statement said: “Sligo GAA County Board advise that the Selection Committee appointed to seek a new Senior Football Team Manager approached a number of internal and external candidates for the role.

“After extensive discussions a number of the candidates withdrew due to work, travel and personal reasons.

“One of the local candidates former County player and All-Star Eamonn O’Hara stated that he was very disappointed that he had to withdraw due to a recent change in his job role.

“Three candidates remain in the running for the position and the Selection Committee will not make any further announcements until they are in a position to make a recommendation to the County Board,” the statement concluded.

There have been a number of potential names linked with taking over as the Yeats County senior manager.

Aside from O’Hara, these include former Longford boss Denis Connerton, Fergal O’Donnell of Roscommon and Tourlestrane manager Gerry McGowan.
