Kearins and Kennedy do well
SLIGO AC’s Damien Kennedy and David Kearins took part in the first running of the Ratoath Half Marathon at the weekend. The Half Marathon, with just under 700 runners, was won by Stephen Kelly of Drogheda & District AC in a time of 74:48. Damien Kennedy was 9th overall in 80:05 and 3rd M40. David Kearins was 12th in 82:02 and a 40 second PB.
The race was a nice run for both in their preparations for the upcoming Dublin Marathon.
In the Corran AC 5K, John Travers was first home from the field of 70 in 15:33 with Finn Valley’s Patrick Brennan 2nd in 15:57. Sligo AC’s Shane Hayes was 3rd in 16:18 with Desi Foley 4th in 16:20. Corran AC’s Sara Doohan was first Lady in 17:58 with Mari Johnston 2nd in 19:31. There was good running also by Sligo AC’s Kevin McGlone 6th in 17:23, Bill Carty 12th in 18:37, Cindy McCarthy 33rd in 21:55 and Enda Whelan 37th in 22:45.
