Mervyn’s antiques set for Dublin fair
A Sligo antiques specialist with one of the country’s largest collections of antique mirrors, will be showcased on the national stage at Timeless, The Irish Antique Dealers Fair, in Dublin’s RDS, from September 28 to 30.
From his base at the foot of Benbulben, Mervyn Blanc of Yeats Country Antiques, has built up a collection of thousands of beautiful objects and furniture over the past twenty years.
“People today are very keen to find key antique pieces that will give their home a unique look, even if the home itself is very modern,” said Mervyn. A settee made by an Irish furniture maker to the aristocracy and a rare pair of 19 th century gilt mirrors with a beautifully aged tone, are among the items Mervyn will have on show at the fair. The 19 th century mahogany double settee was made by Butlers of Dublin whose aristocratic patrons included Princes Christian and Henry of Battenberg and their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Connaught.
“Furniture in the Victorian and Edwardian periods was handmade from top-quality wood so it continues to look beautiful and we have many very affordable 19 th century pieces available. Timeless brings together some of the finest jewellery and antiques in Ireland and we are delighted to be there,” said Mervyn.
Gormleys Fine Art are bringing a collection of 14 Salvador Dali works, worth over €300,000, to the event.
