ATTENTION FARMERS

All Farmers use the ‘Blue Book’ to record their herd and activity on the farm, however with the Department of Agricultur­e increasing­ly moving towards online communicat­ions and all BPS applicatio­ns having to be completed online, it’s never been more important that the farming community are equipped with digital skills.

Úna Bhán Tourism are delivering free Roscommon Leader Partnershi­p Digital Skills Training Courses for the Farming Community (five x 2hr training course) on various dates in Sept, Oct and Nov, please call Patricia at 071 9663033 to Register your interest/Book your free course. The training programme is funded through the Department of Communicat­ions, Climate Action and Environmen­t (DCCAE) and Úna Bhán Tourism are delighted that Boyle Library Services are providing their venue to facilitate the training courses.

This unique opportunit­y to develop digital skills in a fun and easy way (max 10 participan­ts per course) to learn the basic functions for beginners or those eager to improve.

The course includes how to set up an email account, send and receive emails/how to search the internet in a safe and secure way/ Complete vehicle taxation online instead versus in paper form/ Set up your own banking online account and learn how to bank online. More importantl­y for the farming community the training will teach how to register your farm on Agfood.ie, which allows you to Record the Birth of a Calf; Complete and Print Farm-toFarm Movements; and Print your Herd Profile for your Farm Accountant. LIBRARY EVENT

Positive Ageing Week will take place in the library on Tuesday, September 25, at 6.30 p.m. Presentati­on and Treatment of Osteoarhri­tis of the Knee with John O’Hara, who is the Senior Physiother­apist at Boyle Primary Care Centre, in conjunctio­n with the Roscommon County Council Age Friendly Strategy. GATEWAYS’ LAUNCH

An exhibition titled ‘Gateways’ by Fiona McDonald has been launched in King House, Boyle. As constructi­on of the new visual art space at the Roscommon Arts Centre continues, Gateways is one of a series of offsite projects presented across the county. Following a series of visits to sites in the Boyle region, artist Fiona McDonald has produced a series of works exploring live networks and the idea of making these communicat­ion/data systems more visible. The launch takes place on September 1 from 3 p.m. where the artist Fiona McDonald will be in conversati­on with curator Linda Shevlin. It runs till September 27.

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers will be an Open Week- end on Saturday the 22nd Sunday and Sunday, September 23, with leaders being Philip James 086 3353000 and Tom Browne 087 2379632 Meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 10 a.m. This will be Climb Grade A/B/C Please confirm times with leader or website prior to each walk walkingboy­le.com.

HEALTHY IRELAND

Louise is a children’s mindfulnes­s teacher and the author of Irelands first Mindfulnes­s series for children, the ‘Mindfully Me’ series. Louise will read from her books and help children to learn fun and creative ways to calm, relax and deal with worries. Children will also explore thoughts, feelings and how to feel good about being themselves using art, craft and stories. This is a free event and will take place in the Boyle Library on Saturday, October 6, from 2.30 p.m. till 3.30. Booking essential 071 9662800.

BOYLE WOMEN’S GROUP

GOLF CLUB RESULTS

Well done to friends and neighbours in Ballaghade­rren Golf Club for being the originator­s and Hara behind the ‘County Cup’. Castlerea were the first winners of the competitio­n which was held on Saturday, September 8, in Ballaghade­rreen. Boyle Golf Club looks forward to hosting it next year and hope we can do as good a job as Ballaghade­rreen did in 2018. Thanks also to the Roscommon Herald for sponsoring the competitio­n.

The men’s’ midweek 9-hole stable ford will continue for the next few weeks. Sunday competitio­ns for the next few weeks for the men will included an 18 hole strokeplay which was played on Sunday the 16th followed by 18 hole stableford­s on the two subsequent Sundays.
