60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Best Wishes for many more years of happiness are extended to Tommy and Anne Killoran, who last week celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with a party at their Pub/Restaurant for family, neighbours and friends. The happy couple have given sterling service to the South Sligo Community since they opened for business in Tubbercurry 60 years ago and they are an inspiration to all other young couples.

THE UNDERDOGS

An interesting TV programme is running on TG4 at present entitled the Underdogs. It’s a GAA programme featuring a squad of average GAA Club players who came together training in preparation of a big game in October against a big name county team. The squad is based in Athlone IT as its members are drawn from all counties in Ireland.

A Sligo player Niall Canning from Drumcliffe-Rosses Point is respresenting Sligo and he is showing to be a real joker in the team. He works as a PR man with bank of Ireland and is regularly in the Tubbercurry Branch and locality.

Also featuring prominently last week was Tubbercurry and Sligo football star David Kelly, who is a lecturer in Athlone IT specialising in Sports Performance. David has to measure the fitness levels of the entire squad and speak to them in relation to their performance potentials.

Great to see one or our own locals achieving great heights in their chosen fields. For those that missed the first two episodes, they are probably available on replay.
