Junior soccer action continues
GLENVIEW Stars moved up to second spot in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League after a thrilling encounter at Forthill against Merville United which saw Anthony Johnston net the winner late on in an extremely tight encounter.
They remain unbeaten so far this season.
Merville opened the scoring courtesy of leading scorer Malachy Spratt before Keith Carty levelled matters before the break for Stars. Merville again took the lead early in the second half and Spratt was the scorer but Stars responded within a minute with Carty on hand to again level the scoring.
With seven minutes to go, Johnston stole the show and the points for Glenview Stars.
Merville played a great game and were unlucky not to get a share of the spoils, Adam Devaney’s dismissal only added to their woes.
MCR insured their trip to the sea side was a joyous one hitting their hosts Strand Celtic for eight.
