St. John’s drop down to Intermediate
DRUMCLIFFE/ROSS P 2-11 ST. JOHN’S 1-08
ST. John’s will be playing Intermediate football next year as they lost out to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the relegation play-off on Saturday afternoon.
Drumcliffe/Rosses Point were playing in their fourth relegation play-off in as many years, but they just did enough to survive this one.
Brian Monaghan’s fifth minute point gave the north Sligo men the control early on, taking a 1-07 to 0-04 lead into the break.
While they were largely untroubled in the early stages, they had to weather a storm from St. John’s, who came back in the second-half, reducing their deficit to a mere point.
Both sides were fighting for their lives at this point, but Drumcliffe/ Rosses Point, under the management of Fergal O’Flaherty, kicked on and ensured their safety with a fine finish to the game.
