RECENT DEATH
THE death has taken place on September 5 of Attracta McManus, Ballyfarnon and late of Cloonloo. She was sister of the late James McGrath, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to the McGrath family and to all her relations and friends on their bereavement. May she rest in Peace.
THE death took place at Oakwood Nursing Home, Ballaghaderreen, of Kathleen Chilles (née Shannon) Quinn Villas, Ballaghaderreen and a native of Doon, Gurteen. Her remains reposed at the Sharkey Funeral, Ballaghaderreen on Sunday evening and were removed to St Nathy’s Cathedral. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday by Fr Paul Kivlehan with burial afterwards in Kilcolman Cemetery. She was predeacesed by her husband Louis. She is survived by her sister Eileen USA, nieces, Maeve, Josephine, Eileen and Teresa, nephews, junior, Pat and Eugene relations and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May she rest in peace.
RECENT BAPTISM
Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism in Gurteen last Saturday was Sam Christopher O’Grady, son of Chris and Ciara, Kilkenny and brother to Jack.

The fight to keep Gurteen Post Offiice continues – people who use and need the office to remain have been signing petitions and writing and sending letters to the independent reviewer.
Meetings are ongoing and all are very optimistic that all the hard work will hopefully be successful.
SOCIAL DANCING

The Irish Society for the Protection pf cruelty to children say thanks to all who contributed last weekend at Gurteen Church – a total of €366 was collected.

Gurteen active age group meet weekly on Monday at 2.30 p.m. in the Coleman Centre, Gurteen. New members are welcome to come along.
