PADRE PIO NOVENA

A Padre Pio Novena will be held in Easkey parish from October 1 to October 9 with different guest speakers each night. The Novena will be held in Easkey Church except Wednesday and Saturday when it will be held in Rathlee Church at 7.30 p.m. except Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

HISTORICAL TOUR

A Historical Tour of Easkey will start in Easkey village, on Saturday, October 6, at 5 p.m. from Bia Blasta, where refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards. Sights of interest include: Fortland Estate, Easkey Abbey, and St Ann’s Church of Ireland, The Old Rectory and garden. This event is free of charge but anyone who wishes can make a donation towards the Jonathan Higgins Go Fund Me Fund. Speakers include: Carmel Gordon, David Higgins, Joseph Dunphy and Lorely Forester.

EVENING OF CHORAL MUSIC

There will be an evening of choral music taking place in Dromore West on Friday, October 5, at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. This is a special concert featuring Coolaney Gospel Choir, Sligo Cancer Support Choir, Every Voice Choir Ballina, and Sligo Gospel Choir with special guest Jonathan Carter. CLOTHES COLLECTION

A clothes collection in aid of Easkey Rounders to raise funds for the developmen­t of the club will be held on Wednesday, October 3. All bags of clothing to be left at the Old Factory. The under-13 team are current all-Ireland winners.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED

DEATH

The death has taken place of Goretti Potter (née Conlon), Enniscrone and late of Easkey. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated in St James Church, Easkey followed by burial in Roslea Cemetry. Sympathy is extended to her family and relatives.

TRACTOR RUN

Annual tractor run ‘Across the Mountain and down the Brae’ on Sunday, September 30, from Skreen-Dromard Community Centre at 2 p.m. Registrati­on from 1 p.m. €20 per tractor. Raffle and refreshmen­ts afterwards. Proceeds in aid of Skreen-Dromard Community Centre. Please support.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

A clothes collection in aid of St Mary’s Church, Dromore West takes place on Saturday, September 29, at McGee Hall, Dromore West. Recycle your unwanted clothing – all types of clothing accepted including bags, shoes, hats, belts, towels, curtains and bed linen. WESTSIDE MACRA

Westside Macra is having a fundraisin­g social dance on Friday, October 5, at 10 p.m. in the Great National Hotel, Ballina. Music by Jason Travers and Jenna Sloane. SOCIAL DANCE

The September social dance will be held in Skreen-Dromard community centre on Saturday, September 29, with music for dancing by Thomas Maguire and Fhiona Ennis.
