GATSBY BALL

- JESSICA FARRY

A Gatsby Ball in aid of the Rape Crisis Centre brought all the glitz and glam of the 1920s to the Clayton Hotel on Saturday night.

Organised in conjunction with JoAnne Neary, the Clayton Hotel and the Rape Crisis Centre, the event served as the centre’s big fundraiser of the year.

The ball was the first of its kind organised by the Rape Crisis Centre, and they hope that they can continue to organise such events on an annual basis so that they can meet demand for their services.

The centre caters for people in the Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan and in the past 12 months they have doubled their service delivery.

There is currently a waiting list for those looking to access help, and it is hoped that funds raised by the Gatsby Ball can help to alleviate this.

The waiting list currently stands at several months, however if a situation is urgent don’t hesitate to call the helpline number on 1800 750780 as there will always be somebody available to respond to your call within a reasonable time period.

Saturday’s event was a huge success, with all attendees putting in huge effort to dress in the style of the 1920s.

Organisers hope that the Gatsby Ball will become an annual event.
