Funds allocated for construction of eight homes for the elderly
Over €1 million has been allocated towards the construction of eight new houses for the elderly at Cun Iosa, Ballymote.
Councillor Dara Mulvey said: “These housing units will add to the already excellent accommodation for older people who live here at present. These houses provide a safe environment for the elderly community where they can live independently and are ideally located close to many amenities such as Ballymote Community Nursing home, the railway station, local shops and churches.
“Sligo County Council granted final planning permission for this scheme of houses in November 2017 and it is welcome news that this scheme has received final stage 4 approval from the Department of Housing, Planning and local Government in the sum of €1,656,408.”
This will now be brought forward to the October meeting of Sligo County Council for final approval.
