Attempted robbery of bookies

A 37 year old man charged with attempting to rob a bookies in Collooney has been remanded in custody when he appeared before Sligo District Court last Thursday.

Brian Duke of Cois Abhainn, Collooney was initially brought before a sitting of Tubbercurry District Court on Wednesday last where he remanded to Sligo the next day.

Duke is charged with attempting to rob Pyramid Betting Office on September 24 th. He is further charged with as- saulting Shanice Hayes causing her harm at Cois Abhainn. On Thursday, Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) said the defendant was unable to meet the €3,000 bail surety condition but that this would be sorted on Thursday next.
