Fighting in shopping centre

-

TWO men got to grips with each in a Sligo shopping centre, Sligo District Court heard. Summoned for engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour at Johnston Court Shopping Centre on October 24 th 2017 were Wayne Wallace, 53 Cloondara, Ballisodare and Rory Boyd, 43 Radharc Na hAbhainn, Coolaney.

Inspector Paul Kilcoyne told the court that Gardaí received a call for assistance along with an ambulance to go to the shopping where Wallace alleged he was assaulted but later when spoken to at hospital he was unco-operative. CCTV was viewed and it showed the defendants fighting with each other. The incident occurred at 11.50am and a mother was seen running past with her children. Wallace did not have any previous convictions. The court heard that there had been heated words between the men previously on a night out and this had led to the escalation. Wallace (25) was a father of a two month old baby. Judge Kevin Kilrane ordered the defendant to come with €200 for a charity and if this was done the matter would be dismissed under the Probation Act. Mr Eddie Henry, solicitor (for Boyd) said his client had been in hospital since September 3rd and he had no discharge date. The case was put back to December 6 th.
