Stole tablet and beer from Tubbercurr­y store

A 28-year-old woman who stole a tablet worth €299 and alcohol in two separate incidents in Tubbercurr­y almost four years ago has been fined ¤200 after compensati­ng the victims.

Mother-of-four Annie Joyce of St Enda’s, Beech Park, Ennis stole the Archot tablet from Noel Johnston at Computer Bits, Teeling Street, Tubbercurr­y on December 20 th 2014.

She also stole a 12 can pack of Carlsberg worth €15 from Gearoid Surlis’ off-licence, The Cellar, on Teeling Street on November 2nd 2014.

The court heard Joyce has 139 previous conviction­s but has not re-offended since November 2014 and had travelled up from Ennis for the hearing at Tubbercurr­y District Court.

Joyce handed up ¤300 and ¤15 respective­ly to the court, which Judge Kevin Kilrane ordered be handed to the two victims by the Gardaí.

Judge Kilrane said he was “somewhat impressed” Joyce’s last criminal offence was almost four years ago. He convicted and fined Joyce ¤100 on each charge.
