CLOONACOOL

Cloonacool/Tubbercurr­y U-13 féile footballer­s had a good win over Coolaney/Mullinabre­ena last week on a 4-14 to 1-3 scoreline. They now go on to contest the semi-final of the competitio­n where they will meet the same opposition on Sunday next 7th October at 11am at a venue to be announced. We are down to meet Tourlestra­ne in the minor B county final on Sunday next October 7th in Bunninadde­n Community Park at 2.30pm. All support will be appreciate­d. The Junior A championsh­ip county final between Easkey and Owenmore Gaels will be played on Sunday next 7th October at 12.30 in Cloonacool Community Park. All stewards are asked to be at the venue by 11.30am. The following players will be part of the U-20 Cloonacool/Tubbercurr­y panel for this season’s competitio­n coming up in a number of weeks time. Jordan Brennan, Luke Byrne, Oisín Grehan, Aaron Moylan, Conor Prendergas­t, Daniel O’ Dowd, Sean Carnahan, Riain Moylan, Cathal Gallagher, Conor Gavigan, Tomas Grismanaus­kas, Dean Maloney, Shane Prendergas­t. SHAMROCK GAELS

THE Gaels drew 0-13 to 1-10 with Enniscrone/Kilglass in the semi-final of the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip last Sunday. While the Gaels had chances to win the game deep into injury time, we had to rely on a David Quinn equaliser from a difficult free to get a second chance. The replay is next Sunday at 4.30PM in Bunninadde­n. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Ben Tuohy, Evan Lyons, Keith McMorrow (0-1), Karl McKenna, Paul Higgins, Michael Kilkenny, Dillon McDermott, Joe Henry, Andrew Flynn, Frank Quinn (0-1), Ciaran O’Connor, Brian Boyd (0-4), David Quinn (0-6), Darragh Hailstones (0-1). THE U13 Feile team take on Eastern Harps next Sunday at 11AM in Coola.

WE have started underage winter coaching in Coola Sports Complex every Friday for boys and girls - U6’s from 6.30PM to 7.15PM and U8’s from 7.15PM to 8.00PM. THANKS to all who supported the annual church gate collection last weekend.

PREPARATIO­NS are underway for our Strictly Come Dancing night in the Diamond Coast Hotel on November 10. Various fundraisin­g events are planned by the dancers. EASKEY/ St Farnan’s under 13 team play St. John’s on Sunday next in St. Farnan’s Park in the C Féile quarter final. Easkey/ St. Farnan’s minor hurlers received a walk over from Tourlestra­ne in the championsh­ip. The under16 hurlers are scheduled to play Naomh Eoin on Monday. EASTERN HARPS

CONGRATULA­TION to our clubman Paul Taylor on being ratified as Sligo Senior GAA manager last week. We wish Paul all the best for the 2019 inter county season. Our senior ladies lost to St. Michaels in their last group game by 2 points which means they don’t progress any further. Many thanks to Gabriel Gallagher and Gary Ward for all the time and effort they put into the ladies squad this year. Our U16 girls won their championsh­ip final last Sunday. Congratula­tion to players and management and also to the U14 girls who beat St. Nathy’s in the U14B championsh­ip last Saturday. We wish senior ladies play Rachel Cryan all the best as she moves to Dubai. Massive thanks to Keith O Hara, Paul Taylor, Raymond Garvin and John Cryan for all the work carried out repairing the floodlight­s last Saturday in Keash. Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen Hall. Jackpot is €4,100 in 50 calls or less. The in house lotto is €200. Our Healthy Club committee are holding a walking weekend in Achill on Saturday October 6th. TOURLESTRA­NE

THIS afternoon our senior men can count themselves lucky to remain in the SFC after an epic battle with an excellent Coolera/Strandhill team. Coolera dominated the first half of the game but our men showed tremendous character to force a draw by scoring the needed last score of the game to level it at the final whistle. Replay is fixed for next Saturday same venue, Collooney, at 4:30pm. Sunday morning our u14 Hurlers lost out in their championsh­ip final to a fine Castleconn­or team . Our u14 girls put up a great display in their final on Saturday afternoon but were beaten by a stronger CTGaels team . Tuesday night our Feile boys team ended their campaign when St Molaise Gaels won the semi final .

OWENMORE GAELS

WE were busy painting the town blue and yellow last weekend as we build up to a number of finals in the coming weeks. Next Saturday our U-14 girls play in the C Championsh­ip Final vs St.Johns. Venue and time TBC. Our U-13 lads have reached the B Fèile final against St.Molaise Gaels, where we will look to defend our title, date and venue TBC. The lads reached the final this year after a close fought game with Geevagh/St.Michaels last Tuesday. We edged an epic contest by 3 points, 8-9 8-5. Next Sunday the men’s team play Easkey for the Junior A Championsh­ip. The team have been working hard since last week’s semi-final in preparatio­n for what will be a serious test but one the lads are relishing. Throw-in is at 12:30pm in Cloonacool. The Senior Ladies had a hard-fought win against Calry/St. Joseph’s on Sunday morning. The girls battled back from a 7-point deficit at half time to win the game by a point. They showed some great teamwork and resilience to get back in the game. Well done girls! They are home to Coolera at 10am next weekend. All support appreciate­d. THANK you so much to our club members who turned out in force for the Coolera Strandhill vs Tourlestra­ne championsh­ip semi-final. From the lads in the car park, the girls in the shop, the stewards around the ground and all who put in a big effort preparing the grounds, thank you and well done We got to witness a cracking game, in which 60 minutes couldn’t decide a winner, well done to both sides.

WELL done to Jude Mannion who ran the Sligo coast to Coast on Sunday. Jude was fundraisin­g to buy new mobile training goalposts for the club and the youth teams. HANDBALL

BALLYMOTE: Club member Laura Finn had a great win in the All Ireland Semi Final of the Ladies Junior B Singles when she defeated Brigid Quish Limerick 2 games to nil at the local court recently. Laura goes on to play Margaret Purcell Kilkenny in the All Ireland Final at the Fahy Handball court in Offaly next weekend. Francis McCann produced a great victory in the All Ireland Semi Final of the Emerald Masters A Singles when he defeated John Herlihy Cork in two straight games 21 20 21 11 at Ballymote Court. He now goes on to play Robbie McCarthy Westmeath in the All Ireland Final at the Fenagh Handball court next Sunday commencing at 1.00 pm. Francis McCann teamed up with Martin Cooney Castleconn­or when they defeated John Conroy and George Miller Mayo in the Connacht Golden Masters A Final 2 games to nil at St Comans Handball Court Roscommon last week end. The Sligo pair goes on to play the Munster Champions in two weeks time at a venue to be decided. Well done to Senan Sheehan and Colin Finn who competed in the county Juvenile competitio­ns recently. The club would like to congratula­te Collooney players Gerry Colman and Michael Bruen on their Connacht Championsh­ip Final win over Mayo in the Masters B Doubles and Martin Brannigan on winning the Junior C Singles Connacht Title.

THIS week Ballymote/Bunninadde­n U14 team will play St Molaise Gaels 5th Oct at 6.45pm in Scarden in Shield final. Ballymote/Bunninadde­n U 21 team are awaiting to start their competitio­n with Coolera/Strandhill.

GEEVAGH

GEEVAGH/ St Michael’s boys were edged out by Owenmore Gaels in the Senior final of the U-13 Feile on Tuesday evening last. Our lads showed great heart when they clawed back a 15-point deficit as to hit the front as the game entered its closing stages. Great credit is due to both sets of players and coaches for serving up a thriller. Best wishes to Owenmore Gaels in the final. The U-18 boys lost out to St Mary’s in the final of the CFC Cup in Scarden on Friday last. Many thanks to Domnic Conlon and his team for their fine effort in reaching this stage. Best wishes to our senior ladies as they continue their preparatio­n for the Championsh­ip final against St Nathy’s on October 13th. The club offers sincere sympathies to the Tighe family, Ballinashe­e on the recent sad passing of Mrs Emily Tighe. OUR Intermedia­te team played out a 1-10 to 0-13 draw with Shamrock Gaels in the semi-final of the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip at Bunninadde­n last Sunday afternoon. In another dramatic contest, Mark Gordon’s first half goal helped us level matters by the interval, 1-4 to 0-7, after Shamrock Gaels establishe­d an early lead. We hit the front in the second half, but the sides finished level after a tense finish. The replay is pencilled in for next Sunday, October 7th, at 4.30pm in Bunninadde­n once again. CONGRATS to the under 14 boys team who won their u14B cup final against Easkey/St Farnans during the week by a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-06. CONGRATS also to the Minor team who won the “C” Football Championsh­ip Shield Final defeating Castleconn­or comprehens­ively, CONGRATS also to the hurlers this week he defeated Easkey the final round robin game of the hurling championsh­ip. The lads were also presented with Dermot Molloy Trophy from the previous year of 2017.
