POSTER FREE ZONE – UPDATE

Cadra has written to all presidenti­al Candidates nominated requesting our area be declared a poster free zone. Mr Seán Gallagher has confirmed in writing that his campaign will not use posters in our area. Local Sinn Fein Organisati­on has confirmed on behalf of Ms Liadh Ni Riada will not use posters in our area. We are awaiting response from other presidenti­al Candidates. We will keep you updated on response from other candidates.

CPR TRAINING DATES

We are planning CPR Training and the following list of potential dates are available. Monday. October 15 afternoon and/or evening, Wednesday. October 31. evening, Monday. November 5. evening, Saturday. November 10. morning/ afternoon/evening, Monday, November 19. evening, Monday, November 26, evening, Tuesday, November 27, evening. TIDY TOWNS REPORT

Cadra say sincere thanks to everyone who assisted with keeping the area looking so well and litter-free. The 2018 adjudicato­rs report has been circulated to residents and can also be viewed on Carraroe and District Regenerati­on Associatio­n Facebook page.

We are really delighted with the progress reported including an increase of 12 points on last year to 260 points. The report is positive but a number of issues have been highlighte­d for attention which as a committee we will work to address in coming year. Again, many thanks to all residents of Carraroe area for ongoing support.

SPEEDING ON OUR ROADS

Cadra wrote to the Superinten­dent Sligo/Leitrim to have speeding addressed in interest of safety of our community. We have been advised a recent assessment by Sligo County Council has confirmed our views on speeding are correct. We are also advised measures are being examined, including warning signage, to address the matter is actively being examined. We have also been advised garda speed patrols will be increased in the area.

FIDDLE TEACHER NEEDED

Carraroe national school is looking for someone in the parish area to help train boys and girls to learn the fiddle. Classes are planned during school time. Please contact the school for further informatio­n.

CADRA DONATIONS

We wish to acknowledg­e another donation of €50 received from a local resident towards our work. We also wish to thank the local tradesman who has volunteere­d his time to assist us with his skills to allow us complete the area at Community Centre and other projects. This support is very much appreciate­d. Work has commenced to finish of the area in front of Community Centre thanks to the generous support of our community.

DANCING

Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo. Dance class commences at 8.30 p.m. with live band from 9.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. Tomorrow night Jason Moyles will provide the live music. The schedule of future live music providers are Wednesday, October 10, Olivia Douglas, October 17 Carmel McLoughlin, 24th Colm Burke, October 31 Stuart Moyles. CHURCH NEWS

Everyone is invited to Fr Vincent Connaughto­n’s Farewell Evening next Friday night at 8.30 p.m. in Killenumme­ry Community Centre. Entertainm­ent and light refreshmen­ts will be served on the night. Parish Choir rehearsal will resume on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along.

The sick and Housebound: Mass is on 107FM Just tune your radio before Mass. Please let the housebound know about this service in your area.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

If you wish to book the community centre, please contact the parish office at 071 9162136. Most morning, afternoons and some evening are available. Please be conscious of other groups using the centre and stick to your allocated time.

BODHRAN CLASSES

FIT-CAMP CLASSES

This class will be held each Monday and Thursday evening in Carraroe Community Centre. Lose Weight and Tone Up in a fun and enjoyable environmen­t. Men and Women of all fitness levels welcome. 25 CARD GAME

The regular game of progressiv­e 25 takes place in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. The winners on 12 games were Séamus McGoldrick/Dermott Mitchell, Runners-up on 11 games were Mary McCarthy/Eddie McGurrin, Thomas McCarrick/John Snee. Looking forward to seeing all our regular players. New inexperien­ced players are always welcome. Usual jackpot and prizes on the night. All proceeds go to local projects in the community.
