ASTHMA SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

Coolbock National School in Riverstown is currently involved in the Asthma Friendly Schools programme developed by the Asthma Society of Ireland. This programme provides schools with asthma informatio­n and resources to enable staff to become familiar with asthma symptoms, triggers, treatments and emergency situations. As part of the schools involvemen­t with this programme Coolbock NS will host an informatio­n evening with an Asthma Nurse Specialist. This event will take place in Coolbock National School on Thursday, October 11, at 7 p.m. This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.

CHILDCARE PLACES

Little Buddies currently has availabili­ty in Preschool, all day care and afterschoo­l services. The Poppy Room caters for Wobblers (1-2years). The Sunflower Room caters for Toddlers (2-3 years). Bluebell Room caters for ECCE preschool and full day care (3-5 years). Blossom Room caters for Afterschoo­l age children.

To assist parents with their childcare needs Little Buddies offers a number of funding schemes: Universal Childcare Subvention Subsidy: aged one year to the preschool age are entitled to subvention of childcare cost up to €20 per week. Community Childcare Subvention: A means assessed scheme which entitles low income families to avail of subsidized childcare services. Early childhood care and education (ECCE) – this scheme entitles children to avail of two years free preschool commencing from the age of two years eight months on the first of September 2018.

RAMBLING HOUSE

Riverstown Comhaltas will be holding Rambling House on Saturday, October 13, at 9.30 p.m. Musicians, singers and Dancers welcome. Refreshmen­ts will be served. Admission €10. Enquiries to Pádraig Kerins 087 6707329.

SINGING LESSONS

Traditiona­l English and Irish Singing Classes taking place in the Morrison Cottage, Riverstown every Saturday. Children’s lessons from 3.15 p.m. to 4 p.m. and adult lessons from 4 p.m. to 4.40 p.m. with all-Ireland Winner Tom Gavin. Come Along for a sing a song. All levels catered for.
