IRISH LEGENDS STORY TELLING

As part of Social Inclusion Week, Úna Bhán Craft Shop, grounds of King House, Boyle will host three mornings of free storytelli­ng and hot chocolate. Focusing on pre-school children and their parents/guardians with young children that may feel lonely and experienci­ng social isolation and welcome the opportunit­y to spend a couple of hours in the company of others while immersing themselves in Irish Legend stories.

COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­IONS

As part of Social Inclusion Week, Úna Bhán will host a morning at Boyle Farmers Market incorporat­ing cookery demonstrat­ions by Flo to provide healthy wholesome food with a main focus on those living on a budget, called ‘Healthy Foods and Healthy Minds’. This year’s Social Inclusion week’s theme is ‘Healthy Roscommon’ and all are very welcome to participat­e in an interactiv­e and social event on Saturday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the grounds of King House, Boyle.

DAS ACADEMY CLASSES

DAS Academy (Dance/Act/ Singing) in Boyle continued on Thursday, September 27, in St Joseph’s BNS Class Times: 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. will be a Dance Act Sing class for age groups six nine years 5.30 p.m. 6.30 p.m. will be a Hip Hop/ Commercial class for age group eight years – 12 years. 6.30 p.m. 7.30 p.m. will be a Hip Hop/ Commercial Class for 13 years 17 years. 8 p.m. 9 p.m. will be an Adult Fitness Fun class. HEALTHY IRELAND

Louise is a children’s mindfulnes­s teacher and the author of Irelands first Mindfulnes­s series for children, the ‘Mindfully Me’ series. Louise will read from her books and help children to learn fun and creative ways to calm, relax and deal with worries. Children will also explore thoughts, feelings and how to feel good about being themselves using art, craft and stories. BOYLE CHURCH OF IRELAND

RUN WALK N ROLL 2018.

This event will take place on Sunday, October 21, at 3 p.m. at St Joseph’s Hall, Boyle. Run Walk N Roll is in its 23rd year in Boyle. This year’s theme is: ‘We Won’t Give Up Until Cancer Does’ It is a 5.4km run/walk and we encourage everyone to come out and participat­e, fancy dress is welcome. COURTYARD MARKET

The Market takes place every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. nacool Finance Committee are running a fundraiser to boost renovation funds. For the fundraiser, the Swinford Players drama group will present their play entitled ‘For Better, For Worse’ in Cloonacool Community Centre on Friday, October 19, at 8 p.m.

This is a three-act comedy written by playwright Jimmy Keary. It is a follow on from last year’s production, which had the audience in howls of laughter all night, and sent everyone home with a smile on their face. This production is guaranteed to be equally as entertaini­ng.

CARD GAME TIME CHANGE

The Cloonacool Card game will be moving to the earlier time of 8.30 p.m. from October 1. It will take place every Monday in Cloonacool Community Centre.

LADIES GROUP

The Cloonacool Ladies Monday Morning Group meet on Monday mornings from 10.15 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. We looking forward to meeting everyone again and new members are more than welcome.

COMMUNITY PARK DRAW

Tickets are now on sale for the Community Park lotto draw. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member. The next draw takes place in September and the jackpot now stands at €2,200. All proceeds goes towards the ongoing maintenanc­e and developmen­t of facilities at the community park. Remember if you’re not in, you can’t win.

MUSIC CLUB

Cloonacool Music Club takes place on Thursday at Brennan’s Bar from 10 p.m. Come along for a great night of music and singing. There will be a bus available to collect and leave home on Thursday nights for music club. Pick up between 9: 30 and 10 p.m., and then leaving Cloonacool after the food. BADMINTON

There is a new six-week Badminton programme in Bunninadde­n Community Centre from 9.10 p.m. and continues for the next five weeks. The programme started on Monday, September 24, and continues every Monday night. It is a social programme for all adults in Bunninadde­n and the surroundin­g areas. There will be a qualified instructor present each week so beginners are very welcome. The cost is €20 for six weeks. Why not take up something new for the winter months? Congratula­tions to Curry under-16 boys who were crowned County Champions last weekend by defeating St Mary’s in Connolly Park Collooney last week. Well done to their trainers and managers.

ARTS/HERITAGE CENTRE

Everyone in the entire Cloonacool area is invited to an open evening of discussion on how people would like to see Cloonacool in 10 years time, and the practical things that need doing to get there. This meeting will take place on Tuesday evening, October 9, in Cloonacool Community Centre at 8 p.m. Young and older are all welcome to attend, and more than one person from each family is welcome also.

BLOOD DONATION CLINIC

There is a Blood Donation Clinic in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y on Thursday, October 4, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. As always, the demand for blood continues and every possible donation is desperatel­y needed. Injured and sick people live because other people give. Blood is life and giving some is one of the greatest gesture of love and care that most people will ever have chance to avail of.

OLD FAIR DAY FESTIVAL

The monthly Comhaltas session will be held in Nathy Brennan’s on Friday, October 5, junior session stars at 8 p.m. and senior session begins at 9 p.m. Please note the change of time, the starting times have been brought forward an hour. All musicians are very welcome.

RATHSCANLO­N FOREST WALK

Work is progressin­g well on the extension to the Forest Walk at Rathscanlo­n and it is hoped to have the extension opened for use within a few weeks. This is a great Community Project that will enhance the lives of all who use it and is an invaluable addition to the community facilities of the entire South Sligo population.

A sincere thank you is extended to the many people involved in its conception and to the bog cutters of Rathscanlo­n and Rhue bogs for their co-operation.

Funding was obtained for the works but there is a financial shortfall which will have to be raised locally and more details of this fundraiser will follow shortly. The organisers in Tubbercurr­y Chamber of Commerce and Community Associatio­n are confident the wider community will rise to the challenge and donate generously.
