PADRE PIO NOVENA

A Padre Pio Novena will be held in Easkey parish from October 1 to October 9 with different guest speakers each night. The Novena will be held in Easkey Church except Wednesday and Saturday when it will be held in Rathlee Church at 7.30 p.m. except Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Schedule as follows.

Tuesday, October 2 - Fr Philip Mulryan. Wednesday, October 3-Jim Brown faith to freedom. Thursday, October 4 - Fr Eamon Kelly Donegal Mary’s meals. EOGHAN RUA LADIES

Well done to the Eoghan Rua girls under-14 team who won the A2 county championsh­ip on a score line of 3-7 to 1-9 when they beat St Mary’s in Carraroe last week. The team have won both league and championsh­ip this year. The future looks good for the club with the under-12 team having won the two under-12 titles also this year.

BOSTON TEA PARTY

A Boston Tea Party in aid of Rathlee National School will be held in the Ocean Sands Hotel on Friday, October 19. An auction will be held on the night and anyone who would like to donate unwanted gifts can leave them into the school.

EASKEY GAA

The Easkey GAA senior footballer­s are through to the Junior A championsh­ip final and will play Owenmore Gaels on Sunday, October 7, in Cloonacool at 2 p.m.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

St Farnan’s GAA Club are holding a Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser for the club on November 10 at 8 p.m. in the Diamond Coast Hotel. The dancers will be holding fundraisin­g events in the coming weeks.

HISTORICAL TOUR

A Historical Tour of Easkey will start in Easkey village, on Saturday, October 6, at 5 p.m. from Bia Blasta, where refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards. Sights of interest include: Fortland Estate, Easkey Abbey, and St Ann’s Church of Ireland, The Old Rectory and garden.

This event is free of charge but anyone who wishes can make a donation towards the Jonathan Higgins Go Fund Me Fund. Speakers include: Carmel Gordon, David Higgins, Joseph Dunphy and Lorely Forester.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the jackpot in the Easkey lotto draw on September 21. Numbers drawn were 16, 22, 23 and 33. €25 winners: Stella Roache, Michelle Finnerty, Fiona Curley, Anne and Joe, Bea Dunphy. Pro- moter’s prize: Daphne Higgins. Next jackpot €3,000 and the draw will take place at the bingo in the community centre at 8.30 on Friday night. 50/50 winner; Sinéad Harte.

CHORAL MUSIC EVENING

There will be an evening of choral music taking place in Dromore West on Friday, October 5, at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.

This is a special concert featuring Coolaney Gospel Choir, Sligo Cancer Support Choir, Every Voice Choir Ballina, and Sligo Gospel Choir with special guest Jonathan Carter. CLOTHES COLLECTION

A clothes collection in aid of Easkey Rounders to raise funds for the developmen­t of the club will be held on Wednesday, October 3. All bags of clothing to be left at the Old Factory. The under-13 team are current all-Ireland winners.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED

MACRA SOCIAL DANCE

Westside Macra is having a fundraisin­g social dance on Friday, October 5, at 10 p.m. in the Great National Hotel, Ballina. Music by Jason Travers and Jenna Sloane.
