Forty years of the Kidney Association remembered
AN Ecumenical Thanksgiving as Service celebrating the 40 th Anniversary of the Irish Kidney Association took place at the Garden of Reflection at Doorly Park, recently.
Mark Murphy CEO IKA Dublin and Valerie Brady IKA Board were in attendance as was the Mayor of Sligo Municipal District, Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady and IKA Ambassador Ray Mac Sharry.
Master of Ceremonies was Tommie Gorman while the Conway sisters, Sinead and Laura, were the vocalists backed by Eoin Troy on guitar.
The large crowd had present, family members of loved ones, as those now receiving renal treatment and indeed those who had well recently received transplant including Brian Stewart who was there with his wife Shirley. Sligo University Hospital staff members and management were all present and the group was led in prayer by Rev. Patrick Bamber Church Of Ireland, Rev. David Clarke Presbyterian Church, Rev Jeremy Nicoll Methodist Church, Rev Joseph Jose, Bangalore, India, Rev Pat Lombard, St Anne’s and Rev John Carroll, Chaplain Sligo University Hospital.
