A memorial erected in memory of deceased parishioners of Calry took place at Church Island last Saturday.
A group of parishioners and friends took part in the Mass in the Church and afterwards, gathered around the recently erected memorial headstone where Fr Michael Duignan led prayers for the deceased ancestral parishioners of Calry who are buried there.
The group were honoured to have the company of Fr Michael Duignan and Sr Mary Kane, Captain Barry Dolan Irish Defence Forces, Councillor Seamus Kilgannon Chairman of Sligo Heritage Forum, as well as a number of fisherman.
The same fisherman were on hand to assist with disembarkment from the Rose of Innisfree to the jetty (recently refurbished by cousins Frank Hopper and Brian McGauran).
